4/27/12 Dons vs. Dos Pueblos Chargers, Dons Lose 9-4

DP jumped out to an early lead when 5 hits and 2 hit batters put up 6 runs for DP.  They added three more in the 4th and 5th.  Alec Churchill pitched a great 7th, striking out three in a row.  The Dons mounted a rally in the 7th when back to back doubles by Kees T'Sas and Johnny Brontsema broke up the shutout.  Peter Ghersen and Steven Hirschberg each scored, and Peter and Zach Torres each drove in runs in the 7th.

4/25/12 Dons vs. Buena Bulldogs, Dons Win 4-3

Gabe Grandcolas pitched 6 innings, holding Buena scoreless until the 5th.  The Dons got the lead in the 1st when Buena walked in a run.  The Dons added two more in the 4th when Michael Day singled and Jason Jimenez walked to reach base.  Advancing to 2nd and 3rd on a pickoff error, Max St. John executed the squeeze to score a run.  Next Jason scored on a delayed steal play at 2nd.  Buena got runs back in each of the next three innings to tie the game in the top of the 7th.  In the bottom of the 7th, Zach Torres was hit by a pitch, then Connor McManigal bunted for a hit.   Kenny Crawford sacrificed them to 2nd and 3rd.  Kees T'Sas  then drew an intentional walk to load the bases.   With bases loaded and no outs, Johnny Brontsema singled up the middle for the walk-off hit to win the game 4-3.

4/24/12 Dons vs. Dos Pueblos Chargers, Dons Lose 7-2

DP got an early lead in the 1st, jumping ahead 2-0, but the Dons answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning when Connor McManigal single, Kenny Crawford sacrificed, and John Brontsema and Kees T'Sas drove in runs.  The game stayed tied until the 4th when DP scored a run on two hits. Walks and some timely hits added 4 runs for DP in the 6th.  Evan Smith came in and pitched well in relief.

4/20/12 Dons vs. San Marcos Royals, Dons Lose 9-4

San Marcos got the lead in the 3rd when a lead off walk was backed by three singles to make it 2-0.  They added 6 more runs in the 5th to make it 8-0.  The Dons mounted a comeback in the 6th, scoring three times on Kees T'sas and Johnny Brontsema singles, and Michael Day coming home on a wild pitch.

4/17/12 Dons vs. San Marcos Royals, Dons Win 19-2


Kees T'Sas pitched 6 strong innings, allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits.  He got plenty of run support, mostly from a meltdown by Royals pitching that gave up 9 hits,15 walks, and 5 hit batters.  Michael Day had 3 RBI, Connor McManigal, Kees T'Sas, and Jason Jimenez had two RBI each.

4/10/12 Dons vs. Buena Bulldogs, Dons Lose 5-0

The Dons struggled to mount an offense against very strong pitching.   Buena got the lead in the 1st inning on a single backed by a double.  The game stayed 1-0 until the 4th when Buena plated two more runs after a hit batter and a single were scored by a double.  Buena had a no hitter going until the 7th, when Michael Day broke it up beating out a throw with an infield single.

4/4/12 Dons vs. Cottonwood (UT) Colts, Dons Win 4-2

Gabe Grandcolas pitched a complete game 3-hitter.  The Colts got on the board first in the 2nd inning when an error, backed by a single and a sacrafice fly got a run across to make it 0-1.  They added another run in the 5th to make it 0-2.  In the 6th inning the Dons rallied when John Brontsema hit a bases loaded double to tie the game and put runners at 2nd and 3rd.  With two outs, Jason Jimenez it a triple to plate two more runs and make it 4-2.  The Colts threatened in the 7th when the got the tying runs on base, but the defense shut them down to secure the win.

4/3/12 Dons vs. Riverton (UT) Silverwolves, Dons Win 1-0

Tanner Guerra pitched a complete game shutout, giving up just 1 walk.  Jason Jimenez made a couple of great catches on hard hit flys into the left-center gap, including one in the 3rd that likely would have scored a run or two.  Riverton's pitching and defense were strong and held it scoreless until the 4th when John Brontsema was hit by pitch, the stole 2nd to get in scoring position, and Michael Day hit a line drive to right-center to plate the winning run.  The Dons tried to get an insurance run in the 6th, when Kenny Crawford singled, then stole 2nd.  The pitcher walked the bases loaded, and then stole 2nd and took third on a failed pickoff, but Kenny was tagged out trying to come home on a double steal.  Riverton threatened in the top of the 7th when they started a two-out rally and got runners on 1st and 2nd, but Tanner shut it down with a big strike-out to end the game.

4/2/12 Dons vs. San Clemente Tritons, Dons Lose 7-1

The Dons stuggled against a very strong San Clemente team that pitched, hit, and defended at a very high level.  San Clemente got the lead early when a ground rule double made it home to make it 0-1 after 1 inning.  San Clemente took advantage of lead-off walks to score again in the 2nd and 4th innings to make it 0-3.  The Dons tried to get something going in the 5th, when a lead-off double by Kees T'Sas was backed by a Michael Day single, but Kees was tagged out on a fielder's choice.  Dana Hills added three more runs in the 5th to make it 7-1.  The Dons did get on the board in the bottom of the 5th when John Brontsema hit a two out triple and was driven in by Kees T'Sas.

3/31/12 Dons vs. Saugus Centurians, Dons Win 5-3

The Dons won a battle against a strong Saugus team.  Kenny Crawford pitched a complete game.  The Dons got off to a rough start giving up a walk, two errors, and a hit, but a timely pickoff and a strikeout ended the inning with just one run scored.  They came right back in the 2nd inning when Kees T'Sas walked, Michael Day singled, and Jason Jimenez drove them in for two runs.  The Dons added a run in the 5th when Zach Torres singled and Kenny Crawford followed with an RBI double.  In the 6th inning Kees reached on a lead-off bunt and Michael Day followed with a single, then Max St. John and Toby Minehan each drove in runs.  Saugus fought back in the 6th and 7th, scattering timely hits to allow one run in each inning and tightening the score to 5-3.  Saugus put the tying runs on 2nd and 3rd with two outs in the bottom of the 7th and then hit what looked to be a bloop single, but were foiled by a great over the shoulder catch by John Brontsema to end the game!
